The College of Architecture and Planning, the first such college in Saudi Arabia, now in its fourth decade is going through an accelerated pace. It looks forward to taking a lead in different areas of urban development and other issues of the built environment, through the balanced contribution of its five departments which includes Architecture, Urban & Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design & Building Technology. The College at present offers Bachelor’s, Master's and Doctoral Degrees. The College has hosted symposiums and conferences along with a number of seminars and lectures since its inception. These include the “Symposium on Islamic Architecture” in 1398h/1978, “Symposium on Architectural Education” in 2002 and other similar events. There is also a very active Lecture Series held on a regular basis where practitioners, academicians and administrators present their thoughts and ideas on the built environment to the faculty and students of the College. The College and its five departments have organized cultural and scientific activities within the framework of special events such as Architecture Day, Interior Design Day, Landscape Architecture Day through which the activities of the College is exposed to the community.
This College has made significant contribution to the development of the built environment of this nation through its graduates who are employed in both the public and the private sectors. Our graduates are employed in the municipalities of different towns, in The Royal Commission of Jubail, in Saudi Aramco, and in consulting offices where they are engaged in decision making roles with respect to architecture, urban design, housing, landscape, energy and sustainability.
